In 2022, GLYS WNY has established Gender-Sexuality Alliances across schools to increase our reach to over 100 schools in the area; we grew youth and staff support at residential community sites, including BryLin Hospital’s Adolescent Unit, BestSelf Behavioral Health, and Compass House; and continue to provide weekly virtual and in-person peer mentoring for youth, and support groups for parents and caregivers, including a new partnership with BestSelf Behavioral Health. On behalf of the nearly 1,000 youth we serve every year, thank you for your past generosity - literally life-saving support.
It doesn’t stop there. GLYS has provided training to schools and local organizations all over Western New York to help educators provide a safe space for LGBTQ+ students, and for employers to be educated on LGBTQ+ issues and concerns, reducing disparities among their employees and coworkers. GLYS is working hard to establish a safe and affirming environment for youth, from elementary school into adulthood.
As 2022 comes to an end and we embark on what is to come in 2023, we reflect on the successes we’ve had in 2022 because of all of our supporters.
