Supporting LGBTQ+ Youth with care, community, and connection.
Who we are
GLYS WNY exists to provide a safe, affirming, and supportive environment for LGBTQ+ youth and their families. Through peer connection, education, and community-based support, we help young people build confidence, resilience, and a sense of belonging—at exactly the pace they need.
Why we’re here
LGBTQ+ youth face higher rates of isolation, anxiety, depression, and suicide—not because of who they are, but because of the barriers and stigma they encounter. GLYS was created to interrupt that harm by offering connection before crisis, support before isolation, and affirmation without conditions.
We believe young people thrive when they are seen, respected, and surrounded by people who understand them.
How we support youth:
Peer Connection: Youth-centered groups and programs that reduce isolation and build confidence.
Family Support: Resources and guidance that help caregivers support their LGBTQ+ children.
Mental Health Pathways: Subclinical supports paired with referrals to culturally competent clinicians.
Education & Advocacy: Training for schools and communities to create safer environments for LGBTQ+ youth.
Consistency: A trusted, ongoing presence—not one-time interventions.
Our Values
Affirmation: Young people deserve to be respected exactly as they are.
Safety: Emotional and physical safety come first, always.
Connection: Healing happens in community.
Accountability: We hold ourselves to high ethical and professional standards.
Access: Support should be available before a crisis, not only during one.
