LGBT SCHOLARSHIPS OFFERED FROM OUTSIDE OF WNY
NOMINATIONS NOW BEING ACCEPTED!!!!
The Richard L. Schlegel Legion of Honor Award for Emerging Activist is administered by the Center for Diversity & Inclusion at American University in Washington, D.C. It recognizes a young individual (in high school or an undergraduate in college) who is living in the United States who has made outstanding contributions to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) communities. The 2013 Richard L. Schlegel Award will be presented at the Annual LGBTQ Studies Symposium in Washington DC on November 16th, 2013. Nominations will be accepted from now through Friday, October 11th, 2013. For more information about the Symposium, please see http://www.american.edu/ocl/cdi/GLBT-Symposium.cfm. The recipient will receive a cash award, travel expenses for attending the Annual LGBTQ Studies Symposium on November 16th, 2013, and a plaque commemorating the award.

Traub-Dicker Rainbow Scholarship for Lesbians - Founded by Peggy Traub and Phyllis Dicker, the Traub-Dicker Rainbow Scholarship is awarded is to women all over the United States who demonstrate leadership, academic achievement, and an interest in social change. Typically, several winners are chosen each year and awarded scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $3,000. In 2012, six women received a Traub-Dicker Rainbow Scholarship, including local awardee Oraia Reid, a 2012 Point Foundation Scholar and the former Executive Director of RightRides for Women’s Safety.
